Rebel Readers First Meeting

Many thanks to Marla who did a tremendous job of making the first meeting of the "Rebel Readers" both fun and informative.
Byatt's Little Black Book of Stories was challenging, but made for a great discussion.

Here are the details from Marla for next time:

We have scheduled our next meeting for Wednesday, 3/28, at 6:30 pm. We will be meeting at a member's house.
Our book for next time (March 28th) is: Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
I read and thoroughly enjoyed this one a while ago and reviewing the many raves on the web made me excited about re-reading it prior to our meeting.

Here are links for this book at the Amazon and the SF Public Library:

Rebel Readers first meeting was a lot of fun and several books were suggested for further reading including Wind Up Bird Chronicle (April's selection), Well Of Loneliness, Stone Butch Blues, and The Moors Last Sigh. It's great to be talking books with women who love to read!--Kathy

Kate:
This group is really too large, but I can totally understand why no one is willing to leave it. Great discussion! And thanks for noting the other terrific books suggested for reading in the future.

I look forward to meeting all the bookophiles of Betty's book club groups on March 21st!
I will ask you: Who's afraid of Gertrude Stein?
And the answer will be: NOBODY. No more intimidation because Gertie allegedly was a genuis! (She was, and she said it herself.) I will confess my own pains and joys of reading her, and I will be your guide to having fun with her. Reading Gertie can be very sexy fun... Here's how she put it: "If not why not."

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to your showing how much "there is there" in Gertrude Stein.
